A monumental contemporary abstract painting, Intermezzo in Green continues the artist's Green series with a quieter, more contemplative rhythm.

Borrowing its title from music, an intermezzo represents a lyrical pause between larger movements. Two organic forms emerge across an expansive field of warm ivory, connected by expressive gestures, delicate graphite lines, and richly textured passages of deep green and black. The composition unfolds gradually, balancing energy with restraint and inviting the viewer into a moment of reflection.

Built through successive layers of painting, drawing, erasure, and revision, the surface retains the history of its making. Thick impasto contrasts with whisper-soft pencil lines and translucent washes, creating a dynamic interplay between movement and stillness, density and openness. The nuanced palette of moss, olive, forest, and celadon greens lends the painting a timeless quality while allowing its expressive mark-making to take center stage.

Intermezzo in Green suggests landscape without depicting one and evokes emotion without narrative. Its architectural composition and sophisticated palette create a commanding yet contemplative presence, where expressive energy is balanced by a profound sense of quiet.

Presented in a handcrafted natural white oak floater frame, the painting possesses an understated elegance that allows it to inhabit both contemporary and classical interiors with equal ease.
