Divine Spontaneity II
2023
48" H × 36" W
Acrylic, pencil, and oil pastel on canvas
Framed in a Custom Unfinished Poplar Floater Frame

Divine Spontaneity II explores the delicate balance between instinct and intention. Against a luminous ground of ivory and warm taupe, gestures of vermilion red, burnt orange, and deep plum emerge among delicate graphite lines, translucent washes, and fleeting touches of blush. The composition unfolds with an almost calligraphic rhythm, where expressive marks punctuate expansive areas of quiet.

Architectural passages intersect with loose, intuitive gestures, creating a visual language that feels both spontaneous and considered. There is a sense of something unfolding rather than being deliberately constructed—each mark suggesting a thought, a movement, or a moment left suspended.

With its generous negative space and unexpected bursts of color, Divine Spontaneity II achieves a quiet tension between restraint and expression, inviting the viewer to discover new relationships within its seemingly effortless composition.
