Bodacious
2023
72" H × 72" W
Acrylic, pencil, and oil pastel on canvas
Framed in a Black Floater Frame

Bodacious is an unapologetic expression of movement, energy, and contrast. Against a dramatic, near-black ground, sweeping gestures of turquoise, powder blue, and luminous white surge across the canvas, punctuated by unexpected touches of golden ochre and delicate blush pink. The composition is at once exuberant and controlled, its bold central movement balanced by quieter passages of intricate markings and subtle color.

Thick, sculptural applications of paint intersect with delicate pencil lines and spontaneous gestures, creating a richly layered surface that rewards closer examination. Fleeting traces of color emerge from the darkness, introducing moments of tenderness and lightness within an otherwise commanding composition.

There is an undeniable sense of freedom in Bodacious—a celebration of instinct, confidence, and the beauty of the unexpected. Both dramatic and nuanced, the painting possesses a striking architectural presence while revealing an unexpected delicacy in its details.
